You’re part of my team now, I wasn’t going to abandon you.

Tess: Well, aren’t you enlightened all of a sudden.
Clark: You were right. I was hiding out in Watchtower. Trying to avoid digging up my own memories with Lois.
Tess: Maybe the secret is facing them with someone that believes in you. It worked for me.
Smallville - Abandoned deleted scene

#oh my god #FUCK EVERYTHING #why would they cut this ever #otpppppp #no one ships it correctly#chemistry chemistry chemistry #weeping #this fucking scene #what the fuck smallville you could’ve spared two minutes in this shitty episode to give us this MAGICAL WONDERFULNESS #the parallel with clark’s own identity issues is one of the best things smallville has ever done #this is so perfect it physically hurts #this conversation is everything that makes this relationship brilliant in this episode and this season in general I can’t believe they cut this #there’s even gorgeous ot3 business with them discussing lois and asfklifjlaijilfkajklhajha shut down everything #I realised the other day that there’s a wonderfully simple way of boiling down a lot of my feelings about clark/lois/tess and the way it was handled and that is this: without lois clark wouldn’t be the man who changed tess’s life #the greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return #clark you are the light #crying into my tea #smallville ruined my life #everything is ot3 and nothing hurts

Tess: Nifty Knapsack, Kent. Are you on your way to P.E.? If you want to graduate from the bullpen to the corner office, you need to look the part. I think we can find something a little less ‘High School Musical’ and a little more Louis Vuitton to carry around whatever it is that your hiding in here.
Clark: It really is just my gym stuff and I don’t think I want my boss going through my underwear.
Tess: It’s okay, I’ll take you shopping when we get back.
Clark: Get back? Where are we going?
Tess: LA. I’m announcing the new Mercer Media Group at a press conference and I need a friendly reporter to lob softballs.
Clark: And you want me to go with you?
Tess: Every cub reporter gets his big break. This just happens to be yours. Don’t underestimate your talents, Kent. There’s no telling where they’ll take you. The sky is the limit.

If I had to choose one cap to illustrate this relationship, it would be this one. This is so much of what makes these two compelling. Tess is hanging in mid-air, legs kicking, fighting for her life, and Clark comes along and saves her (of course he does). She finds herself on the floor, staring up at him, and he reaches out to her - extends a hand to her. And she’s looking at it like she can’t believe it’s real, but she grasps it, holds on tight as he pulls her up so she’s standing in front of him looking into his eyes. “You’re part of my team now. I wasn’t going to abandon you,” he says, like it’s the most natural thing in the world. And it’s so exactly what she needs that she can only stare at him with something that might be wonder.
